Profile
Hi, I'm Fabio, a PhD candidate in Physics at the University of Pisa (Italy), with a background in industrial engineering. I'm currently doing research in the field of Nanosciences and Soft Matter, particularly on soft lithography, electrospinning, melt electrowriting, and 3D printing methods for the development of micro- and nanostructured devices.
To put it simply: I (try to) make substrates with micro- and/or nano-features made of proteins or polymer fibers; stuff that can help us better understand or interact with biological systems (and not only that). I've been lucky enough to work in both industrial and academic environments. Besides the technical skills I've gained in each field, I'd say these experiences mostly taught me how to frame a problem properly (academic side), and how, or even whether, to find the most efficient solution (industrial side). When I'm not in the lab, you'll probably find me at crossfit or out running.
